May 17th marks a crucial date in our calendar: World Recycling Day. A day dedicated to reflecting on the transcendental importance of giving a second life to our resources and building, together, a more sustainable future for our planet.
The vital importance of recycling
Recycling goes far beyond separating waste into different containers. It is a fundamental pillar for the health of our planet. Every tonne of recycled paper avoids the felling of approximately 17 adult trees, saving water and energy in the process. Recycling plastic reduces dependence on fossil fuels and reduces the accumulation of waste that takes centuries to degrade, polluting our soils and oceans.
In Spain, waste generation is a major challenge. In 2024, the Spanish economy generated 110.1 million tonnes of waste according to the Spanish National Institute’s ‘Waste Account’. Of this, 48.9 million tonnes of waste were recycled, demonstrating a widespread commitment by Spaniards to the environment.
At Coverpan, we are aware of this reality and that is why our commitment to sustainability guides each of our decisions, seeking to minimise the environmental impact from the design to the final disposal of our packaging.
Coverpan and recycling: A solid commitment
We have a strong commitment to recycling and the circular economy. Not only do we design our containers and packaging with their recyclability at the end of their useful life in mind, but we also incorporate biodegradable materials in our production processes, thus closing the life cycle of materials. Our commitment to innovation drives us to constantly explore compostable and biodegradable packaging solutions, seeking even more sustainable alternatives.
Our PackInGreen® line is the result of this commitment, whose packaging is made from recyclable and easy-to-recycle materials, as well as compostable materials made from natural resources.
The future of recycling and Coverpan's innovation
The future of recycling is moving towards a more efficient and technologically advanced circular economy. Innovation in materials, improved sorting processes and the development of new recycling technologies are key.
At Coverpan, we are committed to developing new solutions that are at the forefront of sustainability in the packaging sector. Our goal is to continue to offer packaging solutions that not only protect our customers’ products, but also actively contribute to the preservation of the environment. We strongly believe in the collaboration between companies, administrations and citizens to drive a real change towards a more circular economic model.
Our commitment continues
World Recycling Day reminds us of our shared responsibility to protect our planet. At Coverpan, our commitment to sustainability and the circular economy is unwavering. Every package we recycle, every small action we take adds up to building a more sustainable world. Every decision counts.
